Downtown Akron Partnership is happy to donate First Night Akron admission buttons and Discover Downtown Akron Passports to charitable organizations and events in the Greater Akron Area.

All donation requests will be reviewed within two weeks of submission but you may not receive your donation until closer to the date of your event.

Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) is again offering up its sidewalk planters for adoption by downtown businesses and organizations for the growing season. If you would like to add your own creative touch to the vibrancy of downtown, this is your chance.

Your planter adoption will commit you to select, purchase and plant flowers/greenery in your designated sidewalk planter. Adopting a planter makes you one of the designers of the downtown landscape. Please observe your planter to determine the amount of sunlight it will get and choose your plants accordingly. Most plants are labeled by the amount of sun they require to thrive. The flowers and greenery you purchase for your sidewalk planter will be reimbursed up to $25 per planter. There is a reimbursement form attached to the original email you received. You will need to send in your receipts with the form.

All the planters will be filled with new soil by the end of the day on Friday, May 20. DAP staff will be planting all the planters that were not adopted on Saturday morning, May 21, weather permitting. That is also the day our ambassadors will begin their watering schedule. Please try have your planter(s) completed by June 8.  If your schedule requires you to plant before we add new soil on May 20, you should consider adding a good growing media mix yourself before putting in your plants. You will also need to water your planter until May 21 when the ambassadors begin watering.  Two good reasons to wait if you can.

A kickoff workshop/luncheon for those directly involved in the process will be held Tuesday, April 26 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Doric Room, 4th floor, Greystone Hall. Space is limited, so please RSVP by April 22. Your team's contact person can RSVP on this form for those who plan to attend. 

Each adopted planter will get a personalized garden stake identifying the adoptive business or organization. There is a space below to fill in your company/organization name as you want it to appear on your garden stake.

DAP has about 90 sidewalk planters. The concrete planters are very heavy, expensive to move and may crack in the process. We consider their current locations to be permanent. We also have large and small portable planters that can be placed at any downtown location if the sidewalk is wide enough to allow pedestrian traffic flow around it.

•Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - Adopt a Planter Kickoff Workshop/Luncheon - Greystone Hall 4th floor Doric Room - 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

•Saturday, May 21, 2016 - First planting day. Planters will be prepped by this date and the ambassadors will be watering.
